The Patriots spitting in the face of the rest of the league continued this week when they signed recently released former Steelers linebacker James Harrison and you’d expect a roller coaster of emotions has followed. I get it if you’re a Steelers player or fan, you’re going to be hurt, you’re longtime defensive leader allegedly forces his way off the team and into New England just days after a controversial loss at their hands and just days before the playoffs start. As a Patriots fan, and I’m sure Steelers fans feel the same way, I always thought James Harrison was a part of the “I’d kill Tom Brady with my bare hands if given the opportunity” club and now their taking middle aged couple on vacation style selfies. I can see your pain Pittsburgh, but this going to derail your season and it’s your fault.
We’ve established Steelers fans and players have every right to hate James Harrison, I’m okay with them going as far as him being dead to them; but you know what a key to someone being dead to you? You stop talking about them, you stop giving interviews we’re you make sure everyone knows it’s his fault, you stop trying to win the sound clip awards. Randy Moss forced his way out of New England mid-season and I’m pretty sure Bill Belichick didn’t acknowledge him as a living human until after he was able to win a Super Bowl without him, that’s the way to do it. Maurkice Pouncey couldn’t get enough microphones in his face to talk about how Harrison has ruined his legacy*, he might as well have invited TMZ, Robert Mueller, and Deepthroat, he was ready to talk. Not about a game plan or their next opponent but about a guy who has 3 tackles this season. Making this all worse is the Steelers are heading into the trap game to end all trap games this week, The Cleveland Browns haven’t won a game since Bowie, Prince and Harmabe were alive and are a loss away from perhaps the worst season in league history. While the Browns are as desperate as any team has ever been the Steelers can’t stop trashing a man who had one sack this season to put together a game plan.
Do you wanna know why a lot of times the stage seems too big when playing New England? Because everyone makes the stage too big, in an attempt drag the Patriots down yet again this is being painted as the biggest betrayal in sports history. People have even tried to portray Harrison in a Patriots uniform as an event on the level of seeing Montana in a Chiefs uniform, Jordan in a Wizards uniform, and Orr in a Blackhawks uniform. Harrison is not that guy, this is his third exit from the Steelers organization, he’s been on the roster of two divisional rivals! Harrison joined the Cincinnati Bengals at one point, anyone of sound mind and body that joins the Cincinnati Bengals organization should be fined and barred from any teams ring of honor for history. The Steelers are done, the season began to unravel with the Jesse James non-catch, they were looking for a reason to let it fall apart, and Harrison gave them that reason as one last parting gift.
